Are you fighting in this war? With or without armor?
“Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t after you.”
— Joseph Heller, Catch-22
I’ve been thinking about armor lately. The apostle Paul told the Ephesians, “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” (Eph. 6:13)
You don’t wear armor to play tennis. Or golf. Or lay around on the beach. Or just to work in an office, or push a vacuum, or cook dinner.
Ordinary people doing ordinary jobs don’t even own armor. A hunting rifle, maybe, a utility knife, maybe. But surely not armor.
It got me to thinking. Who does wear armor? Who even owns armor? Hmm. Soldiers. People who are trained to fight, who know what armor is for and how to use it. People who know there’s going to be a…

Sister Bette, I loved the article, very much. It is one I have taught on before, but I truly love the way you laid it out. I particularly love this part as I have never realized this; “Paul, a Roman citizen, is describing a Roman soldier’s armor – notice, every piece is worn in a place where Jesus shed his blood, from head to hand to foot. Some sandals even had metal spikes in the soles.”
It makes sense and stands to reason, because Jesus Christ already shed that blood for you so you don’t need to, you are “covered” in all the areas that Christ bled!! I love it Sis, such a great analogy and spiritually fitting!
Also, having to stand and fight, the armor is well suited for that, but it was also fairly easy to walk in, to advance in and there is the clue, if the armor is full, we have the ability to thwart the attacks of the enemy against us while at the same time advancing in the faith. There ARE times to stand, but the armor the Lord gives us to use is also light and allows us movement! Great article Sis, I truly mean it. I love the way you laid it out and Sis, we need the call to arms for we are in the fight of our spiritual lives. If people aren’t seeing it today, all the more reason they need to be told it’s time to armor up!!
God bless you Sis!!!
